Small bicycle tour

Did a small bicycle tour, saw some skaters, took pics. Results:

Day in Arnhem

Went with my GF for a walk, we came back with this.

Greece 3/7

And we continue with photo’s from Greece!

Incredibly busy road, this photo is untouched, all visual effects done on the camera. Gotta love my 5DMII

A low quality, bad, overcontrasted and underlighted photo. Still I like it, good memories, good story.

Emma intergrating in Greec culture. Seriously DO support Greece because those warriors over there… you don’t want them to invade the rest of Europe!

Our awesome couchsurfing-host brought us to the opening of a salsa-club. We got a very nice demonstration of Salsa dancing. Sexy!

Wasn’t aware communism was still so active in countries. This was an eye-opener for me.

This was the place where we stayed. This was STEEP!

GREECE part 2/7

And here’s more pics…

GREECE part 1/7

Went to Greece with my girlfriend, here’s some photo’s

That’s it for now, I have more but don’t want to post too many pictures in one post!

And here we go again!

At saturday I did another bicycle GeoCache trip, here are the results!

Some random Emmerich shots!

Emmerich is a nice place, but scary too. And in the summer it can become pretty hot and dry. So here are some new pictures for you.

ANOTHER BICYCLE TRIP: Monaco!

Would you look at that, another trip! Yes ladies and gentleman, Steven is going on another bicycle trip!

This year the trip will be from Emmerich to Monaco. An exciting trip over mountains and the plains of France. We’ll see the provence while getting exhausted.

A new lifestyle.

A new house, a completely new location, far away from friends and family. Yes it’s something totally different.

Everything is new. From transport, food, the house to clothes and times I go to bed. To make the contrast even bigger, things got really cold after 2-3 weeks of living here. So cold that we actually got snow, nice! Except if you have to use your bicycle on a daily basis.

Either way, here some pics from my new “situation”.

This is my current bed. I actually finished putting it together yesterday!

Me after I just came home.

In the cold fields out there, clothes like these aren’t a luxery. I often cycle around 10-11pm through snowy blizzards. So a regular t-shirt and a cap won’t do.

Another one!

This is a famous building next to trainstation Wehl. It has been abandonned for a while now. Can you tell?

And here two other pics I took last friday when I went to Amsterdam. Taken at Utrecht CS after my train had a 30 minute delay.

That’s all for now, hope you enjoy them!

From Emmerich, with love.

Oaky it’s been a while but life has been crazy! I moved to Emmerich, I STILL don’t have internet there and I’ve been busy at work as well. Working 40 hours a week is quite a lot, especially if you do a lot of crunchtiming.

Photography still has it’s place in my daily routines and I occaisionly still take pictures. Especially in the weekends of course. So here are some very recent pictures all taken around my new house. Enjoy!

Still alive, no worries.

I think for my visitors, the post about me having a job was bad news. Well you can clearly see that I have been a tad less productive photography wise. Well at least I could pay for new gear. Also on my bicycle trip to Poland (yeah I did that stuff) I didn’t bring my EOS. Kinda regret it but okay.

So did I do nothing? Oh I did something. Here some shots from the last few days for you to enjoy!

My Job

Okay guys, I think everyone has noticed I’ve been away for a while. I have a job. Yes, I have a job. It’s true.

Anyway took my cam to work. And I do respect the no-inside-photography-rules, so I took it outside. Here’s some pictures from my “workspace”!

Did I edit them: Yes.

Do I care about people who hate editing: No.

Why?

Simple. Photography is an interpretation of a mixture between life, how one sees it mixed with his or her feelings at that time. So there you have it. Limiting yourself within a creative branch is like creating engines to go slower. Pointless and not as much as FUN!

Random pics.,

Just some pics from my life.

Very random stuff actually.

Bought some thick paper to create a new product studio. So far so good. I also got a HUGE black sheet so that will be fun to play with. In the meanwhile: test shots and some skateboarding action from Arnhem where I had a job interview..

And now the promised skateboarding stuff…

Been busy

As a New Media consultant, producer and expert it’s still difficult to get a job. If photography is involved: great. If not: well it’s still my hobby. So I’ve been very busy getting my stuff together and trying to get a job. Either way still I took some pics.

Some power plant near Sittard… taken from the train.

And a nice friendly spider in our back garden.

Canon 50mm 1.4 USM lens!

As the title already indicates, I got a new lens. And it’s a beauty! The Canon 50mm 1.4 lens. Why is this one so special? The 24-105 covers a wide range and 50mm is in that range… Well the aperture is really nice.

Explanation
The lower the aperture number, the more extreme the Depth of field (DOF) effect is. What is in focus will always be sharp, but what’s out of focus will be blurry. The lower the aperture number, the blurrier out of focus objects are.

Anyway… Back to the actual photo’s. Here are some test shots I made with this lens:

Picture of my desk… kind of messy, 2 camera’s, phone and coffee.

A car in our street. I edited the numberplate for privacyreasons. It looks quite miniature I’d say..

Small shed in the garden…

Don’t eat them! 😛

Painted this one myself…

Attempt at product-photography..

The cat singing.

How cute… Yes it’s real btw.

Water tower in Ijmuiden.

The harbour in Ijmuiden, I ate fish with my girl somewhere there…

And at the beach.

That’s it for now! Bye-bye, and leave a comment!

Still kicking? Yup.

Okay fact, I’m not out of the game yet. Even a 2-3 minute submergion of my camera couldn’t stop me. On the bad side, I did lose my 28-135 USM IS lens. On the bright side, I could finally justify buying a new L lens so I went for the 23-105 and got it for a bargain! This guy was really friendly and gave it to me for a very very good price.. lucky me!

Still it was enough to allmost get me bankrupt lol.

Here some new pics, let’s start with some taken with my 1DMKII and the 100-400 IS USM L lens.

And another one..

And here it was tired of posing… so it went off.

And then this image, it’s one of the first images I took with my 24-105 lens… I love it now already!

And here’s a final, kind of random picture I took with the 5DMKII and an extremely cheap 28-80 lens.. lol.

That’s it for now!

Famous last words, bye 5DMKII.

Due to an accident, my 5D MKII went to the bottom of a small river. I dived in but it was already submerged. Goodbye Canon 5D MKII. I loved it, it was all I had so here are the last pictures I could get back from the camera.

Day before, Joost calling…

Cows the day before, not edited by the way…

And another picture.

This camera was my everything. Photography became a way of life for me and I loved this camera to the bone. As a student I can’t just get another one… I can’t afford it so for now this will be the last post. It’s a sad day.

Cheers all, it was fun.
